Tutor Chinese

I can coach brighter students to become effective speakers, learn vocal techniques and reduce accent by identifying problematic Chinese sounds, stress and intonation patterns. These students will be trained to take part in presentation, speeches or storytelling competitions. In addition, I'll help students with composition and word choice so that they can articulate themselves better in speech and writing.

Students that are less competent in Chinese will understand me easily. As my background includes positions as a teacher, radio anchor/journalist and dubbing artiste, I speak Chinese without any accent (e.g. Taiwanese, Beijing or Shanghai.etc..). Chinese dubbed HK/Korean movies and soap operas are dubbed with non-accented Chinese.

I taught over 20 students from 5-16 years old before.

I am a dedicated and responsible tutor.

I have got a lot of part time teaching experiences and I am very good at communicating with kids.

Chinese Native Speaker.

I expect the student to inform me of the issues to be discussed before each tutorial (for example: motion, vectors, forces, etc.) so that I can make proper preparation to ensure a high efficiency in the 2-hour duration and make the tutorial more oriented.

I would always like to use graphs and examples to demonstrate the knowledge on textbooks to make the principles or theories easier to understand and memorize.

I will ask the students to go through several typical and comprehensive questions related with the knowledge taught in the last tutorial, as the beginning of each tutorial. In this way I can figure out if the student really mastered the knowledge. If not, I don’t mind to re-go through the previous knowledge before starting a new topic.

I pay more attention to the way how the students solve questions, rather than just the results as the method will be extremely beneficial for the student not only in physics. In the mean time I will also check that the students will not make careless mistakes in their calculations to avoid losing unnecessary points in exams.

In each tutorial, the schedule is designed as follows, but more flexible rather than fixed:
15~30min: Questions for last tutorial
10~20min: General review of the key points
60~80min: Step by step solving questions on the textbooks
Rest: Conclusions or further discussions

Most of my students started from very basic Chinese pinyin, phonetics, vocabularies, and sentence strutures as they did not know Chinese before. Now they have made great progress and can converse in simple Chinese not only in speaking but also writing. I can understand language learning is not an easy progress, as a teacher it is important to find effective ways of teaching depending on different characteristic of different students and being patient to the students at the same time. What is more important, language learning cannot be separated from culture learning as language is a part of culture. I have studied cross-culture communication as one of my major courses, and as a girl full of tolerance and persistence, I have confidence of myself in Chinese tutorial.

My student said that I am a good teacher. I am a Ph.D student of NTU and major in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Moreover, I am good at Mathematics and Biology, especially Chinese.
There are several tips of my teaching methods.
1. I always set some quiz before each class. Because tests help me evaluate students and assess whether they are learning what I am expecting them to learn. Moreover, well-designed tests serve to motivate and help students structure their academic efforts.
2. I always prepare lesson plan before each class. Because Lesson planning results in effective learning.
3. I can communicate with my student well. And we become friends when the class ends.
4. I am responsible for my teaching. Most of my students are improved in their academic study.

I have had one year of tutoring experience and successfully improved the grades of my tutee.
